Inter-Nos 2010

These photos document the 2010 Inter-Nos International Mural Arts festival in Santiago de Cuba. Artists from Cuba, Germany, the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Denmark, Martinique, Canada, and the Dominican Republic collaborated to share ideas and create 10 new murals around the city. The theme of this year's event was "Rituals of Resistance" which was interpreted in a unique way by each group of artists. The event was coordinated by the Taller Cultural (Cultural Center) in Santiago, directed by Israel Tamayo. This year Tamayo formed a new committee with many of the international mural artists. The Inter-Nos International Mural Arts Committee will plan and coordinate collaborative mural festivals in a variety of countries, each one featuring a partnership between local artists and visiting international artists in the spirit of the Inter-Nos festival in Santiago. There have already been such events in Martinique and the Dominican Republic, with more being planned for the future!
